Friday 2/26/10 and Saturday 2/27/10: Love & Forgiveness: There is no question that God wants us to Love and forgive each other. Love is God's command. Love is healing according to some of the verses below. Love is more than what we see in the movies and a gushy feeling. It is looking at the person for who God created them to be, getting past all the other stuff (looks, flaws, hurts they might have caused you ...) and saying "Lord help me to love this person as you love them." Sometimes that is easy and well sometimes not so much. Look at your list, or think of a person(s) whose name would be hard to fit into that statement. Or maybe you might need to put your name in that statement, asking God to help you love yourself. Forgiveness then follows suit. I feel majority of times when it is hard to love, unforgiveness is usually also present. Think again of that person you just prayed over or yourself. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to your heart what you are needing to forgive. Pray out loud, journal, write a letter ... whatever you feel you should do to release forgiveness. I pray that Holy Spirit will guide us and protect us as we walk through this process today, bringing us closer to wholeness and healing!
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5) It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6) Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7) It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
John 15:12-14
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13) Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14) You are my friends if you do what I command.
Hebrews 13:1-2
Keep on loving each other as brothers. 2) Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.
Isaiah 58:7-8
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter-- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? 8) Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard
Mark 11:23-25
"I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, `Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24) Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25) And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.
Proverbs 15:30
A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.
Proverbs 12:18
Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Proverbs 16:24
Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
